Why Should I Clean My Gutters?
Eliminate Pest Infestations – A professional gutter cleaning eliminates the chance of mice, birds, mosquitos, rats, and insects infesting your gutter. Along with getting rid of those annoying pests, you will also be getting rid of tree seed growth.
Prevent Damage to Landscaping – The key component of your property is the landscaping. If it is damaged because of your overflowing clogged gutters, you will be faced with having to pay a costly amount for repairs.
Extended Roof Life – Keeping your gutters clean is an important part of maintaining your home. Clogged gutters trap moisture, ice, and debris, making your gutters saggy and heavy. The heavy weight on your gutters would mean that the water isn’t flowing effectively and that your roof is at risk of being damaged.
How often should I clean my gutters?
Most of NW Pro Clean customers have their gutters cleaned at least once per year, in some cases as much as 4 times per year. A simple visual inspection can tell you if you’re ready. If you have a lot of debris on your roof, can see gutter debris from the ground, can see gutters overflowing when it’s raining, then it is most likely time to get them cleared out. You can also tell if your gutters are overflowing if you have a lot of stains and algae on the gutter facings, or fascia board.
What causes my gutters to stop working?
The need for gutter cleaning can vary greatly depending on the environment surrounding your house or property. Generally trees are you worst enemy. However, gutters can get clogged with little to no trees around the property. This is generally from the natural deterioration of the roof, algae growing from inside the gutter, or construction debris left behind in gutters.
How does NW Pro Clean clean gutters?
First NW Pro Clean will use backpack blowers to remove the loose debris that may be on the roof. All gutters are cleared out by hand the majority of time. NW Pro Clean uses ladders, cleaning tools, and buckets to remove the gutter debris without getting gutter muck all over the place. Then each downspout is checked to make sure the water is flowing properly. Generally the gutter debris is put in a yard waste bin, compost pile, or is dumped in the woods if approved by homeowner. Debris can be hauled away when there is no other option. In the summer time when everything is bone dry we like to blow out the gutters when possible. NW Pro Clean takes great care to not blow wet, nasty gutter debris onto your house, or under the eaves. NW Pro Clean always cleans up after the job is done.
Does NW Pro Clean repair gutters?
Yes. Minor gutter repairs include reattaching/fixing loose gutters, adding flashing where needed to redirect water flow, adding or fixing downspouts. NW Pro Clean does not install or replace gutters.
Does gutter screening work?
In all the years of cleaning gutters, NW Pro Clean has not found any type of screen or gutter that is truly maintenance free. Almost all screens and attachments that you can put on a gutter will not work as well as you may think. Generally you pay a lot for the materials, and pay to have them installed. When they stop working (generally 1-3 years later) you then need to pay extra for gutter cleaning because the screening material will need to be removed, the gutters cleaned, and then the screening material needs to be reinstalled.
Do you clean the gutter facing?
NW Pro Clean can wash the gutter faces by hand, using a bleach solution, or by using a light soft washing.
